Silly kids like to pay with their tooth brushes, as well as ours. They also like to switch. A little too much family sharing!

Stitches
The women of the family are sporting stitches this week. Mine were planned from my oral surgery on Good Friday. However, the more traumatic were Cosette's. She fell off of the playground face first and split her cheek just below the eye. I totally panicking because she was bleeding and thrashing around angrily. I had nothing with me to stop the bleeding. The amazing thing I did have with me was great friends. One swaddled her and placed a temporary bandage, another put our car seats in her van to drive us to the doctor, and the other helped me stay calm and call urgent care. I really do not know what I would have done with Jackson, Cosette or myself without the team of help. I felt so scared and unfocused and unable to form a plan of action.
Amazingly Cosette just needed 5 stitches and had no other head or body trauma. I am still shaken thinking about the whole thing and it made me consider much more carefully what is safe enough for the kids and how prepared I am when something goes wrong. This was our first injury-based trip to emergency services and it feels like a rite of passage somehow. I know these things will happen again, maybe scarier things at worse times. Right now all I can focus on is trying to turn my worries for their safety into prayers. Thank you Lord for breaking Cosette's fall!
We returned to the park a few days later and she was up to her old antics, running towards the edges and sheer drops and wiggling out of my grasp. This girl's not going to let me off easy.
The photos below chronicle the injury, treatment and recover.
