In less than a day, Jack's crawling has gotten a lot better and he's going several feet and using his knees a lot more instead of belly crawling. So fun to see the progress happen so fast.

Jackie-Poo Crawls!
Dan and I feel so proud. We were watching a movie and hanging out with the little man tonight and he seemed really motivated to get going forward. With some incitement he actually accomplished some forward motion. It was incredible to watch him gain a brand new skill right before our eyes, and we even got it on tape. This is a long clip (edited down from a much longer clip) but I left a lot of the crawling attempts in so you could see the wild kicking and variety of methods he's using on these first attempts. Can't wait for him to wake up tomorrow so we can have more fun!

Catching Up
Some memorable moments that didn't make the blog before:
Broccoli in the eyebrows
In the pact-n-play at Christmas, first time he flipped to his belly to sleep
Eating at least 2 meals a day now and excited about it.
And a few videos of Dan on the guys' snow camping trip doing what he does best: jumping off of high perches toward "safe" landings. These are the tame jumps. Apparently the big one wasn't filmed. Kinda glad I wasn't there. I was describing this practice to a girlfriend and she said "That's how people die." Hmmm, let's hope not.
More Mobile
He's up on his knees now! (need to get a photo) So cute and he's probably going to crawl forward soon. But for now he's rolling and lunging himself into awkward places around the house. He starts off in the middle of the room and ends up trapped in the closet somehow. He must had drug the toy in with him and wedged himself half way under it.
MLK Hike
Dan had 1/2 day off on MLK and we took advantage of the sunny weather to take a hike with small group friends. We debuted the backpack and it went over pretty well.
Helping Mom Get Ready
Playing inside the toy bin is one of Jackson's new favorite things to do, especially when I'm trying to blow dry my hair and get ready for the day. He has even pulled himself to standing inside the basket. But like any fun game, there are high and low points and plenty of frustration. He's getting to an age where he purposely drops a toy and wants me to retrieve it for him, otherwise he screams. Also note the tongue twisting in the first picture. He does that non-stop now that he has 2 bottom teeth in and more on the way.

Balancing
He's loves to stand and balance against toys, furniture, and especially mom and dad's hands. He can pull himself up with a little help and stand for a long time. So cute.
Our Little Economist
Maybe following in Daddy's footsteps already with his choice of reading material. He's still not crawling, but he can get anywhere in the house by rolling and scooting.

Successful Foods
No new eating pics because I've been focused on getting something down his throat, but here's a fun list of things that he's eaten so far.
Loves: apricots, prunes, bananas, apple sauce, pears, rice puffs, yams, apple slices to chew on, potatoes, carrots
Tolerates: turkey, rice cereal, avocados, aparagus
Gags up unless it's disguised with other flavors: broccoli
I've been making his baby food myself and it's been a fun process, but maybe one of those things that you only have time to do with your firstborn. Looking forward to when he can eat from our plates instead of needing special meal prep.

49ers Game
We caught the last game of the Niner's season this year and even though the game was completely meaningless for both teams, we had great seats, great friends and the weather held up nicely. A fun experience overall (thanks for the tix Howard).
The Chan's had never been to a pro game before, so it was a great experience going with them. Their little guy Noah decided to sit this one out with grandma.
It was chilly, but it didn't rain on us and we were grateful because we had ponchos, but didn't have a plan for keeping the baby dry.
Jackson's been so much more cuddly than usual lately and fell asleep in my arms. He typically fights sleep and doesn't relax, but we may be turning over a new leaf.
Sweet pouty little lip.
And they did win, so that's something.

A Tooth!
Finally something's coming up through those gums. Surprisingly he hasn't been overly cranky or drooly, so I guess we got off easy on this first tooth.
Lil' Jack
Zoomed in so you can see it.
And also cute pics of him playing on his piano bench style toy
