First Food

Jackson got his first rice cereal this week. He was very interested in grabbing the spoon and making a mess, but he actually ate quite a bit. The last few nights he's continued to eat the whole bowl of cereal and even opens his mouth for more. I think he likes the attention of the feeding time.

 Jack's silver spoon and silver bowl. The bowl was a gift from his great grandmother.  It originally belonged to Jackson's great-great-great-great grandmother. Isn't that awesome! The spoon is a bit newer, a gift from Dan's co-worker when Jack was born.

Baby's Laughing Game

Jack and I have spend the last week and a half at home with a bad cold. It's been hard having to cancel all of our activities and stay in the house with a sick little baby, but I just didn't have the energy to get going. He was also really clingy to me and didn't want to go to Dan at all, so I was exhausted from holding him all day and feeding him all night as he woke much more often than usual. Jackson's better now and I'm almost there, but moments like this video make it so worthwhile to spend my days with him. His new game that he wants to play all day is "look at me and I'll laugh for you." My favorite game yet!

Now that Jackson is sitting up very well on his own, we tried a new shopping method with him in the front of the cart. 

 No smiles here, it's all business in Costco.

So our lessons learned are the following: 

1. Bring a back up baby-carrying method. Jack loved to be up with Mommy for a while, but got really tired and wanted to sleep near the end of the trip, so that was kind of a disaster because I was trying to unload the cart onto the conveyor belt and pay and hold him. Yikes!

2. Costco shopping carts are made for 2 kids to sit up front, so my cute little cart cover doesn't line up with the correct leg holes and straps for baby. I had to do some interpretive strapping to get him securely in there and still get to debut my little germ-cover-thing.

We also pulled a fun 6 mo + toy from the garage that was a gift from Dan's cousin Sarah a while ago, but seems appropriate now.  Jack LOVES this thing. Also, it can get a lot taller for when he can stand up and dunk.  Bonus!

 He was so focused in on this toy I couldn't get him to look at me for any of these pictures.

 Finally got his attention.

Trying to get the ball in the hoop is a lesson for another day (way down the road) but this turned out to be a great reach and smack around toy right now, plus it cheers for him when he scores a bucket.

A Family of Dinos

Having a kid makes this Halloween blow other recent Halloweens out of the water.  The cuteness is off the charts.  I'm sure it will get even more fun when Jackson is trick-or-treating and picking out what he wants to be each year. 

He loves being a little green dinosaur this year!

 I was inspired by Jack's store-bought costume, so I made big versions for Dan and me to sport to our Halloween party.  Here's the before.

He wore the costume for 3 hours, but got all tuckered out.  I know how you feel Jack!
