Coco's Crawling!

Cosette wiggled on her belly, scooted backwards, pivoted, rolled, and tumbled from 6 months and each day I wondered if that was the day she would finally get going forward. She waited until she was 8 months old, then took off like a shot. She finally got some forward propulsion on a Sunday night, pushing forward on her toes. By Monday morning she was crawling a few strides on her knees. By Tuesday she was all the way up and shooting down the hallway. I guess when you practice for 2 months you can do it all at once.
She is fast and happy in her crawling. She follows Jackson all around the house and he spurs her on with shouts of "come here Baby!!" and he crawls beside her, or in front, or sometimes on top of her.

This might be the best picture ever taken in the whole world.

Her favorite spot in the house is the corner with the fake tree where she can take all of the fake potting soil out and spread it all over the ground while eating it. That same corner provides an excellent opportunity to rip and eat magazines that I keep in a basket.

She also likes Jack's bathroom stool because it's a great height for standing up.

Not sure she could get any happier
Oh, wait, she just did!

Webb Ranch

A little mid-week pumpkin fun with our friends from Mothers Together.
 Eating hay

 A sea of pumkins
In the bouncy house. At first he said it was "too fast," meaning that he was scared and people were bouncing him too high, but he warmed up to it.

 Can you see Jack?

Pushing his friend Gracie in her pumpkin wagon.
Painting the tiny pumpkin. He likes a lot of red and pink paints.

It's Hot!

We have been between computers for a while now and it has made blogging difficult, but I couldn't resist these pictures taken this week on my phone. The unnecessarily hot October weather has left me crabby, but it this spontaneous backyard pool party takes the edge off. A lot can be done with a hose and an uninflatted snake pool.

When you say "don't spray your sister" what happens next is an arch of water over her head that will splash her just as much as the direct spray. Very creative.
Run Cosette, run!

Pure delight at the feel of the cold water. In this picture Cosette is squealing at her loudest level. She doesn't mind getting soak and he sure likes spraying.
Crab-crawling through the puddles he made.
Like most sibling hugs in our house, this one is both unwelcome and poorly executed. There is too much squeezing and screaming for my taste.
Some drying off hugs and cuddles.
Sweet silly little baby! This Mommy is so lucky!

Somebody's Standing

And falling! (notice the fat lip and bruise above the eye). Poor girl needs more coordination.

Officially

Potty training! Now that we're back from summer travel, we finally committed to the potty training effort. Jack's new undies are adorable and he likes being a big boy. So far so good, only a few accidents this week.

Speaking of becoming a big boy, conversations have gotten so fun. Here are some examples:

Jack trips in the living room over his pile of dinos and screams.
"What happened Jack?"
He looks up with tears in his eyes and whispers "sabotage"

Jack is cheering "Go pteranodons!" (some of his favorite dinos).
"Jack, you're a big pteranodon!"
"No Mommy, I'm not a pteranodon."
"What are you?"
"I'm a Jackie!"

Jack's running commentary to Cosette who is now crawling.
"Come on Baby! Let me show you. You crawl. Come here, you can do it. Let me show you something Baby! Over there. Baby, there's something over there. Ok! Come in here Baby..."
He's happy someone will listen to all of his instructions.
