Do I finally have a child who likes food? Will this be the child that just eats without so much drama? He might be the one! At just over 4 months Graham has been sitting with us at dinner and opening his mouth wide and intimating chewing motions. He is very interested in eating.
(Note: recommended age for first food is 4-6 months)
So like the 3rd time mom I am, I figured I'd let him chew on whatever was around. I don't have time to find that mushy baby cereal to mix with pumped milk. Too complicated. First meal (not pictured due to forgetting to take pictures) was a few bites of applesauce. Second time was hummus. I know, not a classic starter baby food. They always recommend introducing one food at a time and waiting 3 days between new foods. I'm just not doing that.
He loved the hummus and was screaming between bites to get more and more mouthfuls. As a 4 month old, he hasn't fully lost the tongue thrust reflex that he was born with, but he is able to basically swallow everything I give him.
Today was a big chunk of sweet potato, which was not pureed or mixed with liquid to thin it out. It was just a cooked sweet potato, and he loved it. Next was a carrot-apple crusher. He ate the whole thing! He is a great eater and basically nothing comes back out once it goes in. He screams if you don't go fast enough or get enough on each spoon. This kid must be growing and so hungry!
So fun to get to these milestone with my sweet last baby.
"Not suitable for children under 3"! Really? I hope they just mean the packaging, which I did not give him and not the sauce, which he polished off.

It's a cap warning :) They worry about the choking hazard.
ReplyDeleteAwesome that he's such a great eater!!
