The Nursery Is Done!

We are finally finished with the baby's room.  Even though he'll be sleeping in a bassinet next to our bed for a while, it's still nice to finish up his room so it's all ready for him to come home.

My Great Grandma Dutch's rocking chair.  It is so petite and fits perfectly in the room.  Dan bought this bear for the baby for Christmas.  His first gift from Daddy.

I painted this giraffe height chart so that we can record Jack's heights at different ages.

I got a new camera, so I was having some fun capturing the details of the room.

I sewed the letters of his name to go over the crib.

Animal Friends!

We rescued this dresser from Craigslist and it works perfectly as a changing table.  It was light pink with wooden knobs and now it's green and brown.  Dan changed out the tracks so that the drawers glide nicely now.

These giraffe boxes serve will serve as toy cheasts.

Now that we're less than 2 weeks away from the due date, we feel a little nervous because things could start happening at any time.  I'm hoping to post pictures of our son pretty soon.  I'm pretty fed up with being pregnant at this point, but the end is very near.  It's hard to imagine how much our lives will change overnight...

One More Baby Shower

We had our final baby shower, thrown by some of the sweet gals in our small group at church.  We decided to make this one co-ed, and the guys were skeptical at first, but it seemed like they had a lot of fun.  Our small group leader David got a new camera and took some awesome shots of the party.  Thanks David!

Shower at Work

My coworkers threw Dan and me a shower, along with another pregnant couple at work that are due a month after us.  It was so nice and I was amazed by people's generosity.  We got so many cute baby clothes and lots of nursery essentials.  The Baby Room is 90% ready at this point, but I want it to be perfect before I take pictures, because it will probably never be that pristine again with the baby living in it.  I'm taking Fridays off from work now to give me extra time to relax, so this Friday the project is to totally finish the nursery and get the hosiptal bag pack, finally.  In other exciting new, I'll be "full term" (37 weeks) on Friday! 

3 pregnant ladies.  Here I'm 35 weeks, Jenny is about 30 weeks, and Elham is about 13 weeks.

Some great gifts.  If this new Gieseke is anything like his dad at that age, we'll be needing that monkey backpack harness before long so I don't loose the little guy in the store.

 Thanks everyone for the great gifts! Also funny but not pictured is that a significant percentage of the guests could not find wrapping paper in time and ended up wrapping the gifts in old mechanical plans and plotter paper.  Nice touch.
