Family Time

Here's a smattering of what we've been up to lately. Mostly we've been hanging with the kids close to home, so here are some recent shots of the homefront.

Cosette is 5 weeks here and getting really great head control. She's still the sweetest little thing and pretty much only fusses when she's hungry. She sleeps at least 18 hours a day, but we're enjoying those little awake periods so much where she's kicking her feet and looking at lights and faces so much more.
Jack also like to sleep and cherishes his daily 2 hour nap. He likes to be surrounded by stuffed animals, books, and at least 4 binkies when he snoozes.

We went to an Oscar party this year and had fun voting on the winners and playing Oscar Bingo (where I won sour patch kids candy!) Dan wanted to wear his vest that he's had from a wedding and has never had another chance to wear. Pretty snazzy. Plus there's some sweet father-daughter matching going on!

Last weekend we took a short day trip to SF just to get out. We tried Ocean Beach, but Jack was terrified of the wind storm going on and the sand was blowing in his eyes. He was yelling "CAR, CAR!" because he wanted to run back to the safety of the car, which we did after about 1 minute of getting wind wipped. No pics of that incident, but afterwards we headed to the relative safety of the duck pond in Golden Gate Park for a much more peaceful experience. Cosette was pretty happy to miss out on all of it by napping.

Jack was pretty mad about his hood

But all worn out (and sweaty) at the end

And finally here's my baby girl at almost 7 weeks. She is smiley and wonderfully cuddly. She is addicting!

P.S. She's now sleeping 6-7 hours at night! What a little Rock Star.

In a Box

Life is good when you have a box, and even better when you're in a box in a box!

Grumpy Man Loves Choo-Choos

This is the face of Jackson lately, much to my dismay. Nothing makes him happy! I think he's hit those "terrible two's" I've been hearing about which includes retesting every boundary, demanding things he doesn't even really want, saying "no no no no" to everything regardless of if he wants it or not, and being generally discontent with his situation. I think the new baby in the house may have something to do with it, but he's still being so sweet to Cosette ("Coco" or "Sissy") and I am grateful for that. I'm hoping my compliant little man will return after he gets this period of discontent out of his system.

He does loves his train set ("choo-choos") and I got some pictures of him looking pleased while playing. He can now assemble some track and loves to make a long line of trains go round and round.

Our Beauty at 1 Month

Cosette is getting so big! She's 9lb 3oz at one month old. She's starting to smile all the time and she still loves to sleep a lot. She sleeps the best on Dan's chest and spends a lot of the night hours there snoozing away. She also likes to spit up on everything, which I don't like. A lot of laundry every day. She is such a joy to our family!

1st Family of 4 Outing

We absolutely had to do something stimulating with Jack this weekend since he's been cooped up with me in the house all week. The weather was nice and we all visited Happy Hallow in San Jose.

The new rig.

So proud of Jackson. He's been on a lot of carrousel rides and always gets freaked and wants to get off. This was the first time he's been into it and wanted "more"

Poo on the curtains...

...spit-up in the couch and bed and pillows, and NO SLEEP.

I forgot how messy sweet innocent little newborns are. Dan and our living room drapes got sprayed in poo during a diaper change last week. They are so explosive! Other than that, she's keeping most of the mess in her diaper (unlike Jackson who wet through his outfit 5 times a day and soaked your lap). Cosette's mess of choice is spitting up at unexpected moments all over the furniture. I have spot-cleaned most of our living room already. We need a drop-cloth since a burp rag never seems to get the job done.

The no sleep thing is really unfortunate since both Cosette and Jackson are sleeping great. I've had a terrible cough keeping me up, which is just the worst when the kids are sound asleep and I'm up for no good reason! It will pass, I'm sure.

Here are attempts to photograph the little ones together this week. Happy 3 weeks old Cosette! It seems like a few days ago we brought you home.
